Scientists Finally Proved What Everyone Refused to Believe for 170 Years

If you enjoy immersive journeys into the past—from ancient oceans, prehistoric worlds, and forgotten eras of Earth to the dramatic maritime disasters, steamboat wrecks, and lost ships of America—be sure to check out The Fathom Keeper and American Wreck for fascinating stories of worlds and events buried beneath history. 🌊 The Fathom Keeper: @fathomkeeper 🚢 American Wreck: @american-wreck In May 1845, Sir John Franklin and 128 other men sailed aboard HMS Erebus and HMS Terror in search of the Northwest Passage. Equipped with steam engines, Arctic provisions, and the confidence of the British Royal Navy, the expedition was expected to complete a historic journey through the Canadian Arctic. Instead, all 129 men disappeared. In this immersive history documentary, we explore the true story of the Franklin Expedition, one of the most enduring mysteries in maritime history. From the departure of the ships in Victorian England to their entrapment in Arctic ice, the abandonment of the vessels, and the desperate struggle for survival, we follow the evidence left behind by the men who never returned. But this is also a story about the people who were already living in the Arctic. Inuit witnesses provided crucial accounts of the expedition's final days, information that was dismissed or discounted by many European authorities for generations. Through historical records, archaeological discoveries, forensic research, and modern DNA analysis, we examine how the story of the lost expedition has gradually been reconstructed. We explore the discoveries of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror shipwrecks, the Victory Point note, the evidence of cannibalism, the role of John Rae, and the scientific investigation that identified Captain James Fitzjames in 2024. This is a story of Arctic exploration, survival, historical investigation, maritime archaeology, and the long search for truth. Dim the lights, settle in, and join us for a slow, immersive journey into one of the darkest mysteries in the history of exploration.
