  My number one rule for eBay is that if the product picture isn’t taken by a phone camera, I ain’t buying<br><br>A low quality picture taken with a crappy iPhone camera means it’s just some random person selling it, and 9 times out of 10 random people are just trying to get rid of some stuff, not scam you. Scammers tend to make it look professional (or semi professional), which works on Dropshipping sites but not on slightly better Facebook marketplace

  If I ever shop on eBay, I immediately sort to Used, and 99% of the bullshit vanishes.

  Tech nerd and part time ebay seller here, just gonna say that ebay&apos;s certified refurbished program is total garbage. Anyone can get in, the only real criteria is paying a monthly fee to be a part of it. Bunch of crap has that verified check mark because they paid for it.

  the pre-owned part of eBay is still awesome. I wanted a very specific telescope for my 21st birthday, but the site was sold out of them. Luckily, a guy on eBay was selling one he&apos;d bought for his daughter that she never used, still in its boxes and everything. Guess who has a sickass telescope now!!

  My mother has been selling collectibles and vintage goods she finds at estate sales on ebay for years and has commented on how much worse it’s gotten in the last few years.

  I find it pretty easy to eliminate the dropship garbage if you’re trying to avoid it on eBay. Just change your preferences to used in all that crap goes away.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut3GpG4PvEI&amp;t=1039">17:19</a> Speaking of weird descriptions, about a week ago I couldn’t sleep so I was browsing Facebook Marketplace with my dad just to see what weird stuff we could find. We went down several weird rabbit holes of people selling dozens of the same thing but one listing caught my eye. This one guy was selling burger patties and put the condition as “used”. The thought of a used burger patty both perplexes and disgusts me.

  Sometimes i order from eBay just trying to divest from Amazon, and if it&apos;s a generic product (batteries, straw cleaner) it will be delivered by Amazon in Amazon packaging. I genuinely haven&apos;t figured this one out yet.
