  The best strategy I’ve found is to ignore great ones exist, and just enjoy more natural hunting. No tents, no herd management, just walks with my dog 😊

  Grinding takes all the fun away for me. I'd rather just pick a random map and go exploring around and shoot whatever crosses my path.

  Great video as always, man. As someone who’s spent a lot of time grinding and experimenting with herd management, I tend to agree that weight probably plays a bigger role than trophy score when it comes to spawning bigger animals. If you look at species like gray wolves or red fox, even the females can have pretty high trophy ratings but they’ll never make diamond — let alone a Great One — which makes me think score itself isn’t the deciding factor.<br><br>When you start thinking about it from the programming side of things, Great Ones are probably the result of multiple variables lining up rather than just one stat. That’s why herd management seems to work so well. You’re manipulating things like weight pools, level distribution, and overall population balance to give yourself a better chance at hitting that perfect combination. RNG definitely plays a role too, but it’s probably controlled RNG, where certain conditions have to align before the game even rolls that special chance for a Great One.<br><br>One thing I’ve always thought would be interesting is if they added harvest checks before a Great One could even spawn, like requiring correct ammo and passing the harvest check. It would make the grind feel more skill-based instead of people just running around with a cannon mowing everything down trying to force respawns.<br><br>Anyway sorry for the long comment lol.   Wow, you did your research for this one man, kudos!! <br>I remember a lot of the early info as you mentioned, and it&apos;s been interesting to watch the ideas, techniques and theories grow over time. This is a great amalgamation of it all. I&apos;m not a G1 hunter by any means, so my knowledge is mostly what I&apos;ve seen and heard from others. But I can definitely back up a lot of the info in my personal experiences with the game.<br>Great work!

  Any of you who remembers the Mr. Black glitch knows what I’m referring to. But when they added great one black bear to the game, if you repeated the Mr. Black Mission enough times you would get great ones randomly. I had already done the mission, but my wife did it on her account and we tested it on average one out of every 10 times would be a great one. Sometimes it would go as many as 30 times in a row of repeating it before we able to get another one though. My theory is that anytime you spawn a diamond. It had a small chance to be a great one, and not just diamond but just max level of the species. So whitetail level 3, red deer 9 etc. as far as heard management goes, it is a proven fact at this point that herd management is very effective and increasing the &nbsp;chance to spawn a max weight of the animal you’re hunting anytime you have a chance of max weight animals spawning you have chances of diamonds, and every time you have a chance of a diamond you have a chance of a great one. That’s why I believe herd managing does affect it. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it. Sidenote, in my experience, herd management is more about the weight of the animal than the level. I have good experience just making sure there is not any max weights in my external zones and then that makes the zones I grind spawn max weights all the time which increases my diamonds and great ones.

  Spawned my first G1 mule deer last week after about 1300 kills, probably 30-40 diamonds. I noticed after I harvested my G1 that my respawns started acting very odd. I’ve only spawned 1 diamond after 300 kills.. went and checked an exterior lake I haven’t checked since the beginning of my HM, and there was a big level 4. Ever since I shot that buck all of my herds have changed. I have more bucks even in zones across the map. Most my animals are drinking in places I’ve never seen them be at (same zones just weird locations). I also haven’t gotten a rare in probably 800 kills. These new rare furs are tough to get apparently lol.
