  I forgot how static the cutscenes were; I'm so glad they locked tf in for Rift Apart.

  The short way of putting it is I find the modern R&amp;C gameplay loop very fun that it made for a decent game that I replayed several times. But the original, while unpolished, made for a more memorable experience. More planets to explore, more layered dynamic between the two leads, a stronger theme and fitting villian, an iconic soundtrack and comedy that landed more often.<br><br>Rift Apart didn&apos;t fix all of these comparisons, but I did find it a better game by a good amount.

  I played the first one so many times that during 2016 I think I just mentally filled in the gaps the entire time while ignoring the cutscenes. The levels that carried over 1 to 1 were great, but I did miss the late game menacing levels like Gemlik Base. And of course the music

  This game was my biggest letdown in gaming. The original ratchet and clank was my favourite game as a child. They just had to copypaste it with improved graphics and movement but noooo let’s completely change the story instead

  Yes. What could&apos;ve been an incredible remake that updated the OST and clunkiness of an otherwise amazing entry in the R&amp;C franchise instead was a soulless, pixar movie-esque snoozefest with characters that have nothing interesting going for them. At least the gameplay is still fun and the graphics are clean. Those are the only saving graces for me

  My biggest issue was always that it sets itself up as a full remake. Then as it goes on it becomes clear you won&apos;t be visiting half the planets.

  I wouldn&apos;t say it&apos;s actually that bad. I agree with most of what you said to be honest. I like the 2016 version more in terms of picking it up and just playing, but that&apos;s because I didn&apos;t care for RaC 1 when I was younger. That being said, the 2002 original is significantly superior in terms of story, characters, et cetera. I like 2016, but I only LIKE it. Same with RaC 1. I&apos;m just a Going Commando and UYA guy.

  The original R+C game design was perfect, the only thing it needed for modern players was an easy mode for the hard fights and races. Having played RC1 on the PS3 recently, those bits are indeed very hard.

  Ratchet and Clank died when it went to PS3. <br><br>They softened Ratchets&apos; design and progressively started to ease out living enemies for robots (though they went back on it) <br><br>The music changed to generic whimsical background music, and the characters lost their identity. <br><br>Playing the games might feel good at times, but the series has never been the same. <br><br>I guess it would have been a bit hypocritical to be a game about mocking consumerism while continuing to make new Ratchet games. <br><br>Not to forget they bottled the &apos;last of his race&apos; and clank the &apos;chosen master of time&apos; storyline so badly they just want you to forget it ever happened. <br><br>No faith, but my dream is to have a ground up remake of Ratchet through to Gladiator (deadlocked for the Americans) with a potential sequel the keeps the magic and theme of the originals
