I can't imagine the pain of a 5 year old, whose mother abandons him in an Institution for years. That pain and anger never goes away I guess... And yet he took her for walks in the park, brought her home to see his new baby. Looks like the experience made him determined to be a good father himself. And he obviously had empathy for his mother, that's something.
