There was NO TIME for Stannis in the later seasons, we needed space to watch Ed Sheeran sing a little song.

The best quote about Stannis comes before you ever even meet him.

"The king's brothers are the ones giving Cersei sleepless nights . . . Lord Stannis in particular. His claim is the true one, he is known for his prowess as a battle commander, and he is utterly without mercy. There is no creature on earth half so terrifying as a truly just man. No one knows what Stannis has been doing on Dragonstone, but I will wager you that he's gathered more swords than seashells. So here is Cersei's nightmare: while her father and brother spend their power battling Starks and Tullys, Lord Stannis will land, proclaim himself king, and lop off her son's curly blond head . . . and her own in the bargain, though I truly believe she cares more about the boy."

Remember how they did renly’s death in the show? He agrees to an alliance with Robb, giving the starks very generous terms, only to immediately get murdered by stannis. Whereas in the book he forces Catelyn to stay and watch him kill his own brother as a show of force to intimidate the Starks. They definitely had a weird pro-renly bias

Renly as the idealist who wants to follow in Robert’s footsteps is such a bizarre take tbh.
It takes a pretty massive ego to start a whole ass war, just because you don’t want your brother to call dibs.
Renly probably had no idea what he’d do after taking the throne… just like Robert.

Honestly the fact that D&D go on an Inside the Episode saying "The first time we see him he is burning people" when, both in the book and show, he was burning STATUES of the Seven shows that they don't even care to remember anything about him and inmediately go for the worst possible interpretation, even when it contradicts what's already shown and it's just in their imagination.

That scene with his daughter is with of my favourite in the show. Where he tells her she is his daughter and he loves her. Watching her hug him while he looks uncomfortable as hell is sooooo good. Too bad the show ended after that and we never saw what happened to her after.

“I’ve had a feeling from the start that The Mannis is more based than all the others combined.”
- Tywin, (probably)

The Book Tywin felt Stannis was a threat even after Blackwater

Why do I get the impression that d&d never read the prologues and epilogues until they had to start adapting the series? Like, they seem to actively underplay the magic in the setting, they don't see Stannis' appeal, they entirely remove two of the most interesting side characters in the series in Lady Stoneheart and Marwyn the Mage, and delete the whole Aegon plot, all of which get significant page time in the prologues and epilogues.

“I defeated your uncle Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle. I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach. I smashed Mance Rayder at the Wall, though he had 20 times my numbers. Tell me, turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton ever won that I should fear him?”

This quote by Stannis is what makes me most sad that we will never get the Winds of Winter, and to see him crushing the Boltons and Freys in the Battle of Ice. The entire Northern campaign / Northern conspiracy would have been spectacular but alas.
I was also so looking forward to Asha being a Stannis stan, despite herself. She starts to show begrudging respect towards Stannis and how fiercely his men are to him during the long march to Wintefell, and even ends up holding Clayton Suggs in respect.

Stephen Dillane may not have "understood" the role of Stannis or its appeal, but goddamn it, he was such a good actor that he let his instincts take over and he personified the Mannis perfectly. It helps that he used Liam Cunningham as his advisor to understand the world, just as Stannis would rely on Davos. And what's frustrating is that it seemed that at the end of Season 4 and the start of Season 5 that D & D had finally understood how to write Stannis. The scene with Shireen in the tower where he tells her the story of her grayscale and how he did everything in his power to save her was an incredible bit of writing, and really did the job to endear the audience to Stannis's cause. People were stanning him at the time. Then they just squandered everything in the end.
