It’s always heartbreaking watching a wife listen to her husband’s last words

The manly urge to fight and die at Sanguinius' side defending the Eternity Gate.

"Life has lost it's meaning, so let's find a beautiful death"
— Commander Dante (The devastation of baal)
Ten thousand years later Sanguinius is still alive in the blood of his sons

For the lore: not one Guardsman left the Eternity Gate. They fought with the fire of their lives to hold back the forces of the Archtraitor

"It shames me to admit, but i would abandon this wall if i could"

His ability to admit this alone makes Sanguinius more human than every single one of us. He truly deserved so, so much better.

No one ran. They stood by him cause he was the Great Angel. They stood by him cause he cared about his men and women standing by him. Sanguinius was the golden child.

"Not because I can win, but because it is right."
Words I live by everyday. I may not win the battle I fight but I will always keep fighting for what is right. No one can take that from you brothers. And while my loyalty lies with the 18th legion, I would gladly fight and die with the father of the 9th

"Worry not, Sister Aurelia. Tears are not weakness, they are but signs of our inner pain and anguish leaving our bodies. They help us mourn and let us purge our negative emotions that we might carry on when the time to mourn has passed. Let flow your tears now that you may better serve when your time of mourning is done, whenever that time may be." :3

"We may not be of his line. We may not truly know our origins. But the father of our cousins has asked the question that every one of us is now asked upon selection for the chapter. 'Will you run?' and our answer is an ever will be, 'No.' For ours is a will of iron and we will be the shield the Imperium needs until such time as our strength is no longer needed." - Captain Phelan Carlyse, Iron Wardens 5th Company.

It's for reasons like this that even Szarekh, The Silent King of the Necrons, had so much respect for Sanguinius that he made a replica of his Death Mask to honour him. Also I think it's worth mentioning that there's a holiday dedicated to Sanguinius' martyrdom - on December 25th. Sanguinius was such a good boi that he brought back Christmas for the Imperium [tho some suggest it's on Easter].
