You can all debate who is best and who is the greatest, but we can all agree Mario is a superstar of the sport and a true legend.

Mario raced everything, And won all of it. His book was wonderful.

To think, he's 86 years old, and still as sharp as ever. Lovely guy, and a great champion.

I grew up in Nazareth, Pennsylvania… Mario‘s hometown after he immigrated from Italy in 1955… My father was a huge racing fan and actually loaned Mario some money for his first stock car and went on to become a close personal friend of Mario for the rest of his life. My father was also helpful in bringing the family to the US by providing a job for Mario’s father at my dad‘s building block and building supply company… For the first couple of years when Mario and his twin brother Aldo raced stock cars all over the northeast my dad provided a garage and all the tools they needed to help keep those cars running during the summer weekends… Not only that my dad was a machinist who would help Mario with repairs even to the point of machining some special parts for him when they couldn’t find them anywhere in time for the next race. What great memories those are. My dad‘s name was James Tavianini and he is actually featured in a couple of documentaries that were produced to highlight Mario’s career.

I was a Foyt fan from before I can remember as a kid. My older sister loved Mario.
Watching him, listening to him in interviews like this one, I really like him. He is nothing like I thought he was growing up. I enjoy how active, and supportive he is of Indycar.
I must say that it’s still hard to understand why Michael so abruptly dropped out of the F1 goal which he had been so passionately pursuing. Yet Mario stayed on as the F1 team became a reality.
Great interview.

The dude hopped into a car that he had never drove, at a track he had never even been at before, and put it on the pole (Watkins Glen 1968 in a Lotus 49). He beat NASCAR's best at the Daytona 500, just on driving ability. Won an Indy 500 AND an F1 World Championship. And he came up FROM A REFUGEE CAMP. His career took a different tack than most other drivers', but he was a winner in everything he drove and has to be in the conversation for one of the greatest racing drivers of all time...

    フォーミュラワンとインディーカーの両方で成功を収めた、彼こそ正に真のグレーテッドドライバーの名に相応しいと思います🎉
