  "My moral standards increased since I became an atheist". So did mine. And I'm 100% with you when you say atheism wasn't a choice. Ditto. It was never something that I decided. It was something that I became aware of. Great video! Thank you.

  Yeah, that “you didn’t really believe” crap really pisses me off. It comes from people who are so entrenched in their ruts they can’t imagine anyone actually climbing out. Kudos to you for acknowledging where your intellectual journey took you and accepting it.

  My last church camp really cemented my path to disbelief. I remember all the people getting emotional during the last night of worship and me feeling nothing.  That's when it truly clicked there's nothing spiritual going on here. Just emotionally charged people from the environment.

  My path to atheism started when I was 12 and was being bullied by a member of one of the most respected families at our church. I realised being called a good Christian, and being a good person is not the same thing.

  I am so, so very sorry you had to grow up that way.  I also had very religious parents.  They chose my friends, my books, my tv shows, my music.  At lease I was able to go to a public school.  I think I would have spiraled into a very dark life-long depression if I had been home schooled.
