  People underestimate the 22 because it makes such a small hole. Ice picks make small holes as well, but they will still kill you.

  I had to shoot a black bear with a 22 bolt action single shot. One round right behind the ear, instant stoppage of the bear. Not the gun i would have chosen.

  I have killed well over a hundred wild hogs,most running, the largest close to 400 lbs. my rule was put three rounds into the rib cage as fast as you can from a 10/22 before you even think about looking up from your sights,worked 99% of the time.

  I&apos;m a Avid Hunter in south Alabama. I spend a lot of time on the river hunting, the upper and lower deltas. The rifle I use most in my life is a 22 caliber. I have killed more deer than most men in a lifetime with just a 22. From 60 to 70 yd out And hogs, I have killed thousands of hogs. From 25 yd to 70 yd. I have killed raccoon possum, squirrel. And many other critters, with nothing more than a 22 And yes, I own all kinds of guns, from AR&apos;s to lever action to bolt guns. Now, if I had a choice I would not use a 22 for a big game like bull lilk. Mountain lion. Bear. If I had a choice, I would grab the 308 or 30-06. But if my life was in danger, I would use anything I had a well placed shot would take any animal down. Do not underestimate the 22 rifle. It is the best gun on the market for a cheap price to hunt. It is a pure workhorse.

  shot lots of steers and hogs for butchering, just waited till I could target the X from the eyes to the ears - &nbsp;taken out lots of coyotes and badgers with my .22 &nbsp;including side shot, lots of rounds plus thousands of gophers at 100m that is one thing about the .22 minimal recoil which allows for good placement - if the only gun I could have it would be a .22 with a 10/22

  there are only a couple of &quot;instant off switches&quot; you have to hit it, no matter the caliber you choose. i have heard that the .22lr has taken out more bad guys than all others combined. people that underestimate the .22lr don&apos;t understand how killing stuff works.

  You can also use 22s for shooting, green iguanas or rats or bunnies
