Why These Shiny Pokémon are IMPOSSIBLE to Find

  Late: You guessed correct; the antishiny logic basically flips a single bit in the PID to ensure the shiny value is never shiny. Which bit it flips depends on the game (0x80000000 bit in Gen5, but Gen8 does 0x10000000).<br>Why two different shiny types? My best guess is that someone in GameFreak wanted to have a &quot;special&quot; shiny type for Mystery Gift Pokémon, but the implementation was incomplete. They&apos;ve gradually moved away from PID determining other attributes (like nature and gender) prior to Gen8; all it is used for now is shininess. They really could just do a rand(4096/rolls) or do multiple rand(4096)&apos;s, and store it with 2 bits of data (shiny flag, rareShiny flag) rather than 32! There are a lot of &quot;old&quot; features in Pokémon data that can be done away with, but I guess it works well enough to not need changing.

  Imagine being so bad at programming that you can&apos;t make a rare version of a shiny to be rare as supposed.

  Gotta admit, I thought this video would be clickbait because I completely forgot that star sparkles were so rare in certain encounter methods. Such a well produced and informative video that feeds the information slow enough to not cause anyone interested to be turned off from watching through to the end. Bravo.
