Building a system that supports motherhood is the only right answer!

I left my very good job which I loved, 19 years ago and I am still unable to come to terms with it. My children were my priority and they needed me as there was no family support but that decision ruined my personal happiness. Now I think it was a blunder as children take their stay at home mother for granted. It was good for them but devastating for me. Have all lifestyle diseases for past 15 years due to ongoing depression and take 8 medicines a day. I would suggest all women who love their job and enjoy working to never quit. Many a times life never gives second chances.

I felt so stirred by what you said Palki as I’m living it. As a corporate leader, having to face backlash, judgement and discrimination during pregnancy, I can just imagine how it is going to be post maternity. And I have heard so many stories from my female friends who are accomplished in their corporate journey narrating their own stories of discrimination they regularly face post pregnancy. The worst part is these so called large companies claim themselves as women friendly and promote post maternity support. But all of that is just a sham and a facade.

Women working so hard deserve to take a leave to take care of themselves

I gave birth to our children...and my husband at his worst behaviour at that time when I needed him the most ...and after few months everything is normal and everyone expected i should forget and forgive everything and back as normal..how is that possible how can I forget everything....if any girl is reading this plzz think thousand times before bearing child...only if you can handle everything alone then only give birth because people change with the blink of eye and you can&apos;t do absolutely anything except crying in corner with your newborn child

I feel European countries have cracked this and they give a lot of support for the working mothers right from their pregnancy until the child is ready for the daycare .. I wish every country had such empowering and supporting laws for mothers..

I’m a pathologist ,was with successful career and had to quit because no family support and my 3 year old kid was sick, emotionally deprived and suffering, but now he’s fine and settled in Bangalore which partially stops my regret.

I agree.. many couples have 1 kid or no kid.. and reason is they cannot manage job n family ..it&apos;s overwhelming.. my great grandmother was an English teacher during 1915 timeframe.. after that all women in my family worked.. teachers, lawyers, govt officers..no one quit job..and had 4-5 children each .. I always take inspiration from them when I talk to my daughter.. &nbsp;get your husband to contribute rather than compromising on having kids or quitting job ..

As a budding doc, I will never forget my night shifts with a senior resident that I worked with a couple of years ago. She was in her last trimester and yet was swiftly and calmly carrying out c-sections without much trouble, while I was struggling to keep myself awake as I was new to night shifts then. Truly an amazing personality and a great woman and I&apos;m glad to have learnt plenty from her. Society needs to appreciate and celebrate such super-moms who are excellent at striking a balance between career and personal life. At the same time, I believe women should also know when it is time to take a break and rest instead of overdoing things or uncessarily blame others when they have agency over their lives too. Those around them should help them in doing so, so that they don&apos;t feel burnt out...

Going through this and it really amazes me how the entire world chooses to ignore this issue<br>I quit my corporate job of 15 years because it was very demanding and I couldn’t do the hours without compromising on the time with my child
