  So this is the conversation(at least a form of it) if you don't tell Dorian about the meeting 🤔 never did this option considering I always told him about it. This is interesting. And wow I wish I could get my characters to look that good

  To belabor the point further, if you encourage Dorian to leave he meeting, he speaks well of his father, demonstrating that he does still love him very much and regrets that there wasn&apos;t a chance at reconciliation because his father will never change. But the truth is he hasn&apos;t really given him a chance to change. Just walking out of a meeting pretty much ensures that nothing will ever change. Both sides have to give in and be willing to hear each other out. <br><br>Horrible things were said and done by both parties. His father didn&apos;t accept who he was and tried to alter him. Dorian fled and proceeded to live a life of debauchery, looking for every opportunity in which to shame and embarrass his father. The backstory in the game indicates that his father held a prestigious position with the Archon which he ultimately lost thanks to several of Dorian&apos;s quite public scandals.<br><br>Now, he could have refused to follow the life set by his parents and live the life he believed he was meant to without actively seeking to scandalize his parents with his actions, but Dorian didn&apos;t do that. He&apos;d been thrown out of some of Tevinter&apos;s most prestigious academies because of his antics and found himself in quite a nasty situation when Alexius took him in and offered to mentor him. That act quieted down the young man for a time and forced him to focus on research rather than trying to drink and screw himself to death at a young age. But once Alexius&apos; wife was killed and his son sickened by darkspawn, Dorian again chose to flee rather than face anything unpleasant and went right back to his old ways. Even now, his way of dealing with things is to go to the local tavern and drink himself into a stupor where he presumably catches the eye of someone looking for a good time and winds up in that person&apos;s bed for the night. &nbsp;A nice, self-loathing and self-destructive life.

  I always hate the idea of encouraging Dorian to leave in the middle of that meeting. I know some believe it&apos;s for the best, why stay and argue and rehash the same old things over and over but both of them need to reconcile. They still love each other very much despite all that was said and done in the past. If they didn&apos;t care for each other, neither would feel the guilt or pain as strongly as they still do after all those years. I always opt for reconciliation and I always tell Dorian about the letter and encourage him to speak with his father. Some things can never be completely forgiven but if both sides make a sincere effort, some vital ground can be found and it would lighten both their hearts and ease their pain.
