  “She hung my crew before me eyes, she stole my sight and cursed me captain of The Shadow”<br>This line hits so hard and it’s also so sad, because the last thing he ever saw was his crew’s hanging corpses. The Shadow, much like the ocean itself, is ruthless.

  The blowing out of the candle at the end really makes it feel like I was listening to a pirate captain in a quiet pub, and when he finished his tale he reveals he was a ghost all along and vanishes in a cold salty mist that extinguishes all the lights as it blows out the window.

  I did a group dance to this song and the reveal was that at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvtcwsouILY&amp;t=160">2:40</a> we learned that the captain—who was the main singer—was secretly the shadow the whole time and their voice changed from a guy to a girl &nbsp;and from third person to first.

  I got chills when he talked about his crew hanging from the rigging. I imagined a flicker, dimming his sight, then he sees his whole crew just hanging there.

  I can&apos;t stop listening. How the upbeat melody contradicts the story, but conveys a sense of adventure simultaneously, the placement of the candle, the camera angles, the lyrics... it is perfection. I&apos;m an ELA teacher and there is so much to this song. I shared it with my classes today, and they too are in love.

  Legends tell of a mysterious captains. You can sometimes see him at night, spinning tales of the oceans dangers. If your lucky, youll never see his vessel, for those who set sight on the shadow, become shadows.

  This song is fantastic! <br><br>Is this a tale from an old blind captain sitting in a port tavern or alehouse? Or maybe a warning from a ghostly captain trying to save a group of ambitious sailors from a similar fate?
