  I finally read Frankenstein last year. I was pleasantly surprised how different it was from any of the movies I’ve seen Such a rare and great story from such a young lady.

  Mary Shelley was truly a remarkable woman. I was deeply saddened by the detail that she used to read books at her mother's grave. She lived a life full of intense pain; yet despite this, and despite the death of her husband, she refused to give up. She tried with all her might to ensure a happy life for her son, and that is exactly what happened at the end of her life. She can truly be considered a role model for any woman.Thank you for this wonderful video; I really enjoyed it

  I was thinking how we may have missed the novel Frankenstein if Mary had listened to her father.

  Shelley's in laws were right, he and Mary were poor parents.  So he convinced his 1st wife to run away with him abandoning their family and friends, then he used all the money her father sent for her sustenance for their own proclivities.  He believes that all his inheritance should be given to the poor but lived well beyond his means as if money rained on them daily.  He then abandons his 1st young wife for Mary, and within a year, flirts and likely took the virginity of her own sister.  He convinces Mary to give her own virginity to him by her mother's grave!  He continues to live beyond his means, sleep and flirt with young virginal innocent naive girls, and fakes his sadness when 2 of them commit suicide bec of his abandonment. Mary cannot fathom why her own father was against this union, a married man who abandons his wife a child, flirts and likely slept with her own sister, causes 2 young girls to commit suicide because of him, leaves a mountain of debt, unwed mothers, fatherless children, and who knows what else everywhere he goes. Yeah, he is unlikeable and seems to not really care for anyone else be it his wife/child/family, all virtue signaling like so many American narcs do today

  Even today, women will take up with a married man and then worry about his infidelity. Great fodder for a soap opera. <br>Professor Yorston, your videos are my favorite to watch on these topics. Thank you for making these enjoyable stories.

  I just watched the brand new 2025 movie Frankenstein. OMG, it was beyond amazing! I don&apos;t even like horror flicks. But I loved this Victorian era, the cinematography, architecture, clothing, the minute details just made this adventure amazing for me! Just a heads up, if anyone is interested in watching it...but it is a very long movie.
