Having been involved in probably over 60 plus interviews over my career so far, on both sides of the table. This is good advice, it’s less about lying and more about showing your best sides, putting a positive spin on what could be negative, whilst being economical with the truth.

In a weird way I’ve found interviewing to be a lot like dating, on a first date you don’t show and throw up everything about you. You show up positively and try and highlight your best qualities. To do that I found it helps to prepare a few examples of relevant achievements that you can tailor on the spot for most questions. It’s old advice but it has definitely prevented me being stumped when blind sided with a question I wasn’t expecting.

This is how you end up with people who are good at interviewing and not good at working.

If I hate micromanaging and my interviewer manager is a micro manager, then I don't want to get an offer.
