What We Learned From Commanders Week 3: Marcus Mariota Has More Control Than We Knew

What did the Washington Commanders actually learn from their Week 3 win over the Seattle Seahawks? Start with Marcus Mariota, whose role in David Blough’s offense was much bigger than his 183 passing yards suggest. Mariota was checking Washington into favorable plays before the snap, adjusting with Terry McLaurin after it and showing the Commanders can give their backup quarterback meaningful control of the offense. Then, what Mike Sainristil’s career-low playing time tells us about Washington’s changing defensive hierarchy, why Amik Robertson, Sonny Styles and Kain Medrano may be earning larger roles, and what 393 Seattle passing yards revealed about a defense that still has major problems to solve. Host David Harrison covers the the Commanders Commanders for the Locked On network and for WUSA9 as a digital beat reporter. 📌 Locked On Commanders is your daily podcast for all things Commanders Commanders—free and available on all platforms. 🎧 Subscribe + hit the bell for daily updates 💬 Drop your questions and reactions in the comments!
