So glad that people are still reacting to this show. It is an amazing show about something that is a historical special interest of mine for a reason and is important to know about. RIP the victims of Chernobyl and bless it's heroes!!

A heartbreaking series about one of history's most infamous nuclear disasters that shocked the world.

6:23 The reason why they were asking if it was war or bombing because this was during the Cold War. Can’t forget we had high tensions with the Soviet Union.

They assembled the music from actual sounds of a running nuclear reactor.

10:52 Intense radiation exposure can lead to hemorrhaging. Radiation activates the coagulation cascade and induces changes in hemostasis resulting in hemorrhage and RIC.

Im sure others have said but the events of the show are real-ish. Its a dramaticized version of the explosion of Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Pripyat Ukraine on April 26, 1986. Some of the characters are for dramatic effect, but most are actual people involved with the incident, notably characters like Dyatlov and of course Valery Lagosov.

I think this story is a pretty good argument against systems where one person at the top gives the orders and everyone lower in position just follows the orders even if it means ignoring reality. The whole thing can fall apart when the leader makes a bad decision. People are fallible, so one day the leader WILL make a big mistake.

That scene on the bridge gives me chills.

The ash falling on those poor people... That sh*t contains some of the deadliest substances known to man. AND THE KIDS ARE PLAYING IN IT LIKE IT'S SNOW. Straight horrifying.
