  It is refreshing to find a fishing video that teaches people to fish instead of people just catching fish and glorifying themselves. I know how important teaching fishing is as I was fishing guide for 35 years and my greatest joy was to pass on fishing skills and methods to young and old alike. Keep up the good work.   I had my boys fishing swim baits and other lures in our pool. The fact that of seeing what was happening with micro rod twitches made them great fishermen

  Caught my first ever largemouth bass on a paddle tail swim bat with a quarter oz jig head, they work like magic

  Cast it out, and reel it in slow or fast. Rig it weedless or with an exposed hook. With a weight for your desired depth, or weightless. That's it, that's all you need to do.

  another often forgotten but very time tested and reliable swim bait is the simple curly tail grub. I like the 3-4 inch range on a 1/8oz jig head. cheap, simple and absolutely slays fish.

  I can't even count how many walleyes I have caught on a ⅛-¼oz jighead(depending on water depth & wind) and a 4" paddletail swimbait(Walleye Assassin/ Bass Assassin)  in either pearl/flake or chartreuse/ flake(in clear or stained water). And I ALWAYS add in twitches & jerks(in warmer water) or pauses(in colder water) during my retrieve. I NEVER just reel in any horizontal 'chunk & wind' type lure, be it swimbait, spinnerbait, crankbait, etc. ALWAYS add in changes in speed/movement as this can trigger following fish. It's like just ...slowly... moving a laser pointer in front of your cat- then make a sudden move & the cat will pounce! Same with predatory fish. I have LOTS of videos on my channel catching walleyes, bass, even a 30lb northern pike!

  I like using the smallest weights you could possibly find if you want a slower "hop & drop" action along the water floors with the "Ned rig" style

  I have problems with swimbaits myself always thinking am I going the right speed and am I in the right water column and  the right color with the size. Thanks Nathan these tips are very useful to me 👍🏻

  Great video, I definitely get sloppy in the warmer water temps when I can catch fish at any water depth.   I have to remember to keep it on  the bottom for these colder water temps!
