Loved it when you were with us Peter. Legend!

In our last season in the Prem in 2016-17 we had a good solid team with the likes of Robertson, Maguire, Davies, Huddlestone, Mason, etc but went down because we didn't score enough goals. I remember us being all over West Ham away in December and Mbokani missed absolute sitters. To add insult West Ham got a dodgy pen at the end and won the game. We had Hernandez who scored only 5 in 29 after being on fire in the Championship, Will Keane, signed for £1M from Man Utd, none in 6, loan signing Mbokani scored none in 14 (after scoring 7 in 30 for Norwich in the Prem the previous season), Niasse came in on loan in January and did ok with 5 in 19 and Grosicki didn't score in 15 and Bowen, who was still a bit young at that stage, didn't score. Lesson: you don't survive in the Prem without a decent striker.

Great to see Peter a true Tigers legend! Will always remember him diving at BP in a Spurs shirt getting up and saying to the South stand "got to try haven't you"

I feel like the correct answer to transfers is surely somewhere in the middle. It isn’t just ‘sign anybody and rush to blow the budget’ but on the flip side. Not signing anyone and signing everyone after all of our friendlies and just hoping they had a good pre season at their last club and can just hit the ground running in the prem is equally naive.

We did not play on the counter last season, that didn't happen 90% of the time. We moved it quicker in the final 3rd than the opposition could handle. Most of our goals came from fairly "still" play. Look at the playoff winner, that's very typical of our style of play.

Good to hear the views of Peter Taylor who has been there, seen it & done it with the Tigers in the past, as well as elsewhere too. Much respect of his opinions so thanks for having him on The 1904 Club. I totally agree there is too much reliance on Oli McBurnie as our main striker and need at least another striker of equal talent, preferably 2 to allow for injuries and periods of loss of form confidence, on what on paper looks a tough season ahead. It's fine to shore up the defence and have options in midfield, but ultimately the number 1 statistic is putting the ball in the back of the oppositions net. Big difference defending being already 0-1 down and being 1-0 up. So signings wise, up front should be our major goals! Boom Boom! Up the Tigers! & look forward to the Premier League 1904 Club podcasts!
