Cleric Dvati to the warlock half:
"You sold our what!?"
"Our soul."
"You know that belongs to both of us right?"
"Not anymore."
"My god's gonna be pissed..."

the god killing aspect of the Vashar reminds me of the Klingons, "Our gods are dead. Ancient Klingon warriors slew them a millennia ago. They were... more trouble than they were worth." - Worf

and that is definitely bad-a$$

So the Vashar are basically the Dark Urge as an entire species? Nice

I’ve been in a 3.5 campaign where a player was a dvati. The 2-player mechanics are basically what the original race was. The player had one be a rogue and the other was a barbarian. They always flanked with each other. It was glorious.

Considering the Vashar were from the Book of Vile Darkness, I don't think they were supposed to be a player race (3e just had technical player rules for almost everything, including stuff like half-dragons). It was presumably some dev going "Let's give Humans their own version of Drow/Duergar to use as enemies, but make them even worse."

The idea of an evil creature fighting against their own nature is always fun idea for a character concept.

Legitimately two of the most interesting races I’ve never heard of, definitely want to play either of them !

Yo, it's interesting to see someone else's perspective on Vashar. I rewrote them as well, but I went a different route with mine. I really wanted to keep the original's angle of "the very first life the gods tried to make," kind of like a flawed prototype angle. So I kept that, but made their fall centuries after they were made. See, I had the idea that the Vashar were soulless, but that didn't make them evil. They were like humans, and made empires that rose and fell, some good, some evil. Being soulless, the gods couldn't hear their prayers, so they would come visit the Vashar in physical form to listen to their worshipers. This carried on for centuries until a Vashar, for some reason or another angry at the gods, attacked one of them in the middle of a sermon, killing them. It turned out that being soulless, the Vashar were able to harm the divine.

Fearful of their own demise and vengeful for the loss of one of their own, the gods flooded the world, attempting to wipe the slate clean and try again. On their next attempt, the gods imbued the mortals they created with a spark of their own divinity, known as a soul. This ensured that by their very nature, the mortals would no longer be able to harm the gods, in addition to allowing the gods to directly hear their worshipers' prayers and giving them an afterlife. The few surviving Vashar went into hiding, forming insular villages where they continued their race even as the world evolved around them. Elves, dwarves, orcs, and more began to appear, and the Vashar take some amount of pride in being the first race created and the only ones to ever kill a god.

A set of Dvati twins that are Echo Knights would be pretty cool.

18:58 allowing different classes between them is not only OP but also somewhat detracts from the "twins with one soul" aspect.. shared classes/ability scores/feats fits better and is a more balanced handicap.
