    LOVE this discussion!! For me I calibrate my system to 75db, run my center and subs a little hot. Don’t get near zero on my Yamaha TSR 700. Probably mostly -18/20. <br>To be fair it’s a small room, just under 1,000 cubic feet air space

    on my receiver -79 is minimum volume and -0 is max.I usually set my volume between -23 and -20. -75 is thx reference.I have the subs running a few dbs louder.

    98 should be the loudest a D&amp;M receiver can go.<br><br>That is equivalent to +18db Relative volume.<br><br>That is freaking loud dude. &nbsp;No wonder your AVR cut you off. &nbsp;It probably thought youbwere drunk.
