  By that alone: &quot;he has never rolled in a class&quot;, in my eyes he&apos;s completely disqualified from holding any rank. In my opinion, belts still hold meaning.

  I&apos;ve been training for 3.5 years and today I got my blue belt. I can&apos;t imagine getting something I didn&apos;t earn. No pride in that..

  Jake shields promoted him. Combat athletes are so easily bought as there is no capital in the sport for athletes.

  i dont care about what belt people say they are. the mat doesnt lie. You dont necesarily have to beat everyone if you claim to be a black belt because there are so many variables but you can absolutely tell the skill level when rolling.

  I train bjj 4-5 times a week (minus missing a week here or there for injuries/vacation) I&apos;m currently a 4 stripe blue belt and really couldn&apos;t care about belts. I just enjoy going to class and seeing my friends who have become my small tribe. This is what I value and it is so much greater then what moneyburg gets out of this

  Mica Galvao has been training since he was 2 years old. So it took him like 15 years to get his black belt :)

  I’m a brown belt who has been training on and off for almost 14 years. I sometimes don’t feel like I deserve it even though I was at purple belt for 8 years (I took a lot of time off after I got it) and was promoted to it by my head coach Jay Bell who is a well respected black belt with probably close to 25 years of training. I know he would never promote anyone to a belt that they don’t deserve. Still sometime the imposter syndrome gets to me. I couldn’t imagine being a black belt if I knew that deep down I didn’t deserve it.
