I was interested in two comments. One about Institutions the other about the contemporary scene of the sixties<br><br>A Russia colleague was dissuading a colleague from attending a reception, and in the course of the discussion he said 'You see the Kremlin understand Communism as little as the Vatican understands Christianity It is institutions you see they begin to command a loyalty sui generis to the extent they lose sight of the purpose of its creation.<br>Another Russian, a visitor to the UK was asked what h thought of the 'Mini skirt'<br><br>'It is the Trump o the Welfare State Fr the first time there is a dress for women that is classless because now girls have a good diet, they have education instead of spending hours tending machines in a terrible environment .<br>Is it Moral?<br>Anything that is Aesthetically pleasing and Ethically poignant is necessarily not moral it is fashion. .The female leg is the most exquisite and erotic creation. If I thought God was responsible I would be a believer but of course it is Evolution , Cultural Contingency and Providence. It is an augury of the end of Patriarchy let us hope' . That is Marxist history but it is also liberal history The Open Society
