Having my current card showed on this channel may be the signal that it's finally time to upgrade it...

I have to give it to you, this was THE most optimistic, glass half full type video of the GTX 1060 3GB I have yet to watch. Most reviewers panned these as the GTX 1060 6GB wasn't much more expensive, had twice the VRAM and a little performance boost to boot. This video clearly displays how good these cars were, are and can be. I appreciate that. I also have to agree that the price is ridiculous for these cards. ~$25 or ~£20 seems a little more reasonable for what you are getting here.

I'm still using 2 of them for CUDA rendering in Blender 5.0 now, they're definitely feeling a bit old these days though.

When it comes to testing cards with less VRAM it's important to remember that not all games deal with running out of VRAM the same way. In some cases you will get a big performance decrease as some assets end up in system RAM and need to be moved back back to the VRAM to be used, however some games will simply refuse to load higher resolution textures giving an illusion of good performance with high settings when you're not actually getting the same visuals you would with the same settings on a card with more VRAM. I don't know if anything like this happened in case of games that you test but it is important to remember when testing cards like the GTX 1060 3GB.

I'm watching using a PC with a GTX 1060 6GB, which still works really well for 1080p gaming and office things.

My 1060 3GB from 2017 is still going strong, though it does struggle with Palworld. But Classic Doom, Factorio, and tons of other awesome indy games? Plays them all flawlessly. 🙂
