  I’m a college dropout.  Ended up going to trade school to become an electrician.  I’m now making $41 an hour without any student loans.  Frankly, I’m glad I dropped out.

  I’m a retired locksmith. I’m retired without debt by opening cars and apartments for college graduates who kept locking themselves out.

  That &quot;follow your passion&quot; BS has ruined more young people. &nbsp;My father told me and my brothers decades ago, &quot;Follow your passion. &nbsp;Just do it after 5pm. &nbsp;Before 5pm work a job that properly supports you.&quot; &nbsp;I took that advice and worked in the insurance industry for 32 years. &nbsp;During that time I got Black Belts in two styles of karate, trained for years in Muay Thai, did some Gracie Jitsu in the late 90s, early 2000s. &nbsp;I also trained extensively in Ballroom and Latin dance and competed Pro/Am with my wife for years. &nbsp;And built a kick ass stereo system and listened for hours and hours to good music. &nbsp;Oh yeah, and went on tropical vacations once or twice a year with my wife. &nbsp;Hard work, eyes open, and planning work.

  My grandmother always told me to do what you are good at not what you love. Within a few years you will end up hating what you love. Make enough money with what you are good at, and you can do what you love as a hobby!

  Colleges are a business, if your customers want useless degrees. You give your customer useless degrees

  Sitting, waiting for a haircut, I had a conversation with a kid graduating high school. He said that he was accepted to a prestigious college, and would be getting a degree in history. I asked him what career he intended to pursue with a degree in history. He just gave me a puzzled look.

  I went law school as a back up plan. 18 years later, my back up plan still pays the bills. I do not love what I do, I just happen to be good at what I do. Not everyone loves their career, but responsible people accept this as part of life.

  Went to a community college for my RN license, I make 80k a year for less than 12k in student loans. I say that’s a win 🏆

  I think a lot of people just went to college because they thought it was the thing to do at the time. And were told their entire life &quot;you must go to college&quot;. Wrong.
