  players are quick to go down because they want to opponent to be punished with a yellow or red card so their team can have a tactical advantage. A yellow card is the same as having 5 fouls in basket ball and a red leaves  your team down 1 man the rest of the game.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiPiLzoaUCs&amp;t=75">1:15</a> they&apos;re not &quot;soft&quot;, they just use their brain, if they fight back, it means they have to pay a lot of money, they&apos;re out for months without playing, the sanction may not be as severe for the other player as they fought back, it gives a bad image, it can create confusion for the ref where the &quot;main&quot; ref can give a yellow directly to calm things down without seeing the VAR (even when it wasn&apos;t worthy of a yellow card in the first place)

  Every punch means serious money in fines and missed matches and bonuses.<br>Ironically, people that throw punches on that level are getting reputation of cowards and weaklings, because they lashed out in fear and panic, instead of calculating cold under stress.

  provocations, pushin, pulling etc are usually yellow card.<br>direct red card is given for dangerous tackles and fauls..<br>example is sliding tackle with both legs forward. you dont give your opponent enough space to dodge, and the tackle can make some really dangerous injuries..<br>also if you go for a hard faul, without intention to get the ball, only a player.<br>another case for direct red is really unsportsmanlike behaviour.<br><br>there&apos;s more instances/things, but thats the main one.<br>ofc. few smaller tackles can lead to yellow card , and two yellow cards equals red..<br>red card is not given to easy, because unlike technical fauls in nba, &nbsp;red card means team will play with a man down for the rest of the game, and player is punished not just by ending the game, &nbsp;but also the next game in the same competition (must be on the bench for ban to play out) .<br>really bad behaviour and ugly fauls can also extend the ban duration.<br><br>cards can put you in a serious (dis)advantage,can make or break the game sometimes.<br><br>there&apos;s a lot of contact, but for example hands on opponents head are usually yellow card, because there&apos;s good reason why you would do this. <br>so in important games, players might try and dive for contacts, that are technically against the rules. ofc, diving is a risky of getting yellow card yourself..

  People say it’s soft but have never ran around a pitch a dozen times then have someone run and push you. They also play up to the ref to get free kicks, ect
