  Crystalis is still one of my favorite NES games! The post apocalyptic setting in colorful anime style, the music, upgrading equipment, gathering key items--all came together in a compelling way! I liked how the different elemental swords are used for progression as well as combat, and how the different spells changed NPC interactions! If only it had a sequel.<br>Also: when I saw this video, I realized that I really should have subscribed before now.

  This looks pretty darn modern for an NES game, between the movement, the story, and even the visuals.

  Such an underrated great game. Also, its not an expensive game. Pick it up and play it on original hardware if possible. Those that have missed the NES era of RPGs are missing the foundation that your giants have stood upon

  Crystalis was my childhood obsession. &nbsp;<br><br>I had been getting my parents to rent it alongside Blaster Master and Legacy of the Wizard, and was so stoked when I found a used loose cart I could afford at a flea market one summer. &nbsp;It would be a few years before I matured enough to actually finish it, but man, once I did, it didn&apos;t take long for me to start trying to copy it&apos;s spritework in Dpaint IV alongside FF1 and FFL. &nbsp;Eventually Emulation let me rip the sprites from it for study and I became convinced that it was the single most technically impressive game on the NES. &nbsp;It had a huge impact on my early art style as an artist and sprite artist.<br><br>I was so upset when Nintendo of America vandalized it with a GBC demake. &nbsp;I dream one day of getting the license to remake both it and LotW.

  to be fair, on the graphics side, the jump was from early nes games to late nes games in orders of magnitude degree

  I didn’t play this until a few years ago on Nintendo Classics, but it quickly became one of my favorite games. I love it.
