one of the bigger risk in purchasing a home at such an inflated price is the build quality. Unless you are in the construction industry or have inspected sites, you wouldn't know. I wouldn't expect ANY home in SE Asia to last without issue for more than 6 months. Then, ongoing maintenance issues every year outside of what North America would consider normal upkeep - plaster/stucco issues, mold, concrete flaking, plumbing backups, etc. Building codes are quite different compared to North American standards and it is not simply a difference of construction based on environment/climate.
