I love how through out the movie Parzival tries to get a high five from everyone and never gets one. His clan ends up being named "The High Five."

The bit I love that nobody ever seems to mention is that the boss villain's avatar looks like Superman. The perfect self image for a guy who thinks he's perfect.

The "Lord of the Rings sounding thing" is the Charm of Making from the movie Excalibur. Every frame of this movie is full of deep cut references and easter eggs. I cannot comprehend how they cleared the permissions to access all of this content in one movie. I guess when you're Steven Spielberg, you can get what you want in the cinema world.

57:08 Yall didn't catch it here...When Halladay confirms he is both dead and not an Avatar...Its a "Ghost in the Shell" Reference from Ghost in the Shell Stand alone complex. He essentially cloned his mind and memories and uploaded them into the game as a litteral and Digital Ghost.

As a long-time Spielberg fan, I have to say it's honestly refreshing when instead of trying to make a straight masterpiece, he just makes something that's just pure entertainment. Something that's fun enough for the audience to ignore the plot holes. Not everything a director makes has to be flawless, it's nice to switch it up every now and then.

If I remember correctly, Spielberg was always a big admirer of Stanley Kubrick. The entire Shining sequence is one big homage.
