She was a business major (fashion merchandise is business) with a 4.0, a nearly perfect LSAT score, and a tremendous amount of extracurricular activities! In real life, she was definitely qualified for law school

She did NOT barely pass, she got 179 out of 180. She needed 175 for Harvard because they have high standards

This movie illustrates a great point: that just because a blond girl loves so-called "girly" things (pink, fashion, haircare, etc) that has nothing to do with how smart or dumb she is. Elle was NEVER a dumb blond: she was just a sweet, cheerful girl who didn't have particularly high ambitions for herself. The only thing that changed about her was that she shifted her priorities and gained some better perspective about herself and what she was capable of. :)

With Vivian you gotta remember that at the beginning all she knew about Elle was what Warner told her, and we've established Warner is a dick so who knows what he said. And then when Vivian started thinking Elle wasn't what she thought, she sees her with Callaghan and it probably just reinforced everything Warner had told her (and why wouldn't she trust her fiance). Yes it's wrong to immediately assume and blame Elle, but she also was very quick to admit she was wrong afterwards.

180 is a perfect LSAT score. She didn't "barely pass" she missed 1 point.

Her admission is realistic, actually. Harvard has so many applicants, they let in whoever they want. With perfect grades in college and a near perfect test score, she’s fully qualified ✌🏽

I think the thing with Vivienne is that we don't see her be mean to anyone else. Elle followed her ex to law school to get him back. He only broke up with her because of his family, so it's reasonable to assume there could still be feelings there. Vivienne was threatened by Elle being around which is fair enough. It would also be reasonable to think someone who follows an ex across the country is a little unhinged. Plus she says "your famous at our country club" which suggests Warner has been talking about her and not in a positive way. We know Warner thinks she is not smart. And Elle herself brought up the hot tub just as they started the internship, which was not a nice thing to say when he is with Vivienne (funny, sassy, got Warner in trouble but not nice). By the point where she sees Elle and Professor Calahan through the door, she had only just tentatively started trusting her and started to see through Warner (who was still her boyfriend at that point as far as we know?). She should have used her lawyer mind but her emotions and prejudices got in the way. What she saw seemed to confirm what Warner had presumably been saying about Elle. So it was definitely a flaw in Vivienne's character but we all make mistakes, especially when we are young and learning. So I think that is why them being friends makes sense. They realise that Warner (and Professor Calahan) was the problem and not either of them. But I get your reaction based on how Vivienne was to Elle. Sorry for the essay but I couldn't think how to explain it well briefly.

In real life? Elle would be a stellar law school candidate

Days of Our Lives was a real soap opera by the way, not just from Friends. It ran from 1965 to 2022.
