It's a shame the UK never kept one capital ship as a museum. I'm lucky as an American to have walked the decks of the USS Massachusetts and the USS Texas. To stand on a battleship is truly awe inspiring.

I'm so grateful for these podcasts, and James Holland for mentioning the cost of HMS Hood's sinking - 1415 men gone from this earth, after being damaged by KMS Bismarck. Keeping history alive is becoming so important, especially in the "post AI" world where things will be altered or made up - in place of these known historical facts.

I literally got shivers down my spine when the calm order came to prepare to fire. Well done

The funniest half hour spent sitting on the bench outside Imperial War museum next to the enormous shells, Cor that would give you a bit of a headache , hilarious .

I just found this show after studying WWII for most of my life. I’ve read his work, but James is an even better storyteller in this format. Al add a ton of carachter, wit and personality to the show as well. Great job guy and - of course - Always Oil 😊

Hood firing one last shot into the air in defiance, I imagine as her giving a final salute to enemies and peers alike as she sinks. Since her captain obviously cannot.

That was great. I’m not taking the piss when I say this more exiting than watching Sink The Bismarck as a kid. It’s like hearing about it down the pub from a couple of blokes you know who are In the Know. I’m going straight to part two.
