Love this comparison video, Tony. It’s so nice hearing your thoughts on film.
I definitely have to go with the original. It has more atmosphere, tension, and I like the characters much better. I also like that you get more of the religion aspect, and you get more time with the family because of the wedding.
The remake felt like it was just rushing through everything, and it didn’t build up the dread that you’re supposed to be feeling. The remake also showed the ghosts WAY too much, and it took away from any potential scares that it was going for.

my favourite is still the original but the new one wasn't bad(amazing to think it's nearly 20 years old!)

Great comparison video, Tony! My favorite is definitely the 2005 remake. I thought the writing and the pacing was a lot better, the acting was more believable and I cared about the family, it was scarier, and I really enjoyed getting to see Ryan Reynolds show his acting range as his character descended into darkness.

Great stuff Tony. 1979 is definitely my favorite, but 2005 is a pretty underrated horror remake in my opinion.
