You can use farting for the same purpose.

Calling that piece of metal a "trigger" is inviting confusion and rules trouble.

"assist in releasing" sounds like they would need to define a psycho-trigger as an assist, or not. Seems about as clear as anything coming from the DMV.

I have been suffering from TP for a long time and my category is IB-TRRB, but the limbs are W&W RCX100 41# on my 26.5 inch stretch, the riser is wood lamination in the ilf system, 23 inches long, the limbs are long. I instinctively shoot 3 under and I miss like in the BB category, but I almost walk on the wire. Otherwise, even with the TP syndrome, I enter to make a good guess, but those rules... Thanks Jeck, you help me a lot even if I shoot in the IB-TRRB category! You are the 👑 of archery and you know how to explain to us how it should be done! 💪🏹👑

I have to agree with you here Jake. I've seen the conversations in the groups and I think anyone that says this is illegal, with few exceptions, is in the "mental triggers are cheating in general" camp, and I do not agree. It's a stage in a mental process, and you still have to decide to let go. It's actually incredibly difficult to shoot this way still, it's certainly not EASY or doing any work for you.

these are the same people that comment on barebow videos that ILF bows are cheating... you should be shooting wood bows with wood arrow. And only at animals, and actually... just use a spear because shooting it with a string is cheating and you should have to chase what you're trying to hit. There's always someone trying to be the most hardcore version of whatever is going on.

If it passes tech inspection, let it fly.

Could you teach me the proper hand-to-face positioning for the Tab-Sear technique? Every time I try it, my thumb knuckle keeps hitting my jawbone.

It sounds to me like WA's real objection is to using an "external" method of timing the release. In my view, they're interpreting the "spirit" of barebow as including forcing command-shooting, whether you're a target panic sufferer or not. And I would say that's a debatable point, tho I have a definite opinion about it.

But my criticism would be the folks who wrote those rules didn't fully understand what target panic is, and what causes it. If they did, they probably would address timing the shot in the rule with plainer language - disallowing (or allowing) methods of external (or maybe "assisted") timing of the release. As-is, they're dancing all around trying to regulate a bunch of different things they have a vague idea about, but they don't seem to quite pin the tail on the donkey fully on what they really want you to do (or not do). That's because they don't know either.

Personally, I don't consider a target panic sufferer with identical equipment to be on the same playing field as a shooter without it - one can time the shot and the other cannot. There is such a thing as command-shooters who don't have TP, or they're able to cope with it well enough to not suffer. They have a huge advantage over a TP sufferer just on that alone. So I would either a) allow sears or other timing devices or b) simply create another "target panic barebow" class, that allows sears. B) is probably not a road you want to go down, for obvious reasons, so my choice would be a).

Not necessarily draw check devices like our clickers, since they give another significant advantage of forcing a very consistent drawlength, but for sure grip sears, tab sears and the like that provide an external means of timing the shot.

That's JMHO only as a 20+ year debilitating TP sufferer who's now in remission with external shot-timing devices like the clicker or the surprise release with a release aid, and I'm sure others would have a different view...

The irony that the more restrictions you put on the bow to make it "simpler", the more complicated you actually make it. (For competitive shooting, obviously).

Been shooting a setup similar to this for a while now but I just bolt a piece of solid aluminum to the tab plate so my thumb can reach a sear edge. Perfectly league per the rules. If the rule of bolting things to a tab become illegal then to by pass this I would just build a custom tab plate with the extension for my thumb to reach built in. If tab sears and grip sears become illegal, I'd just do an internal trigger like the bubble pop in your mouth. Challenging the use of sears would be pointless.

Your best way is to test how judges feel about it
We went through a stage where judges wanted AT FX stabilizers removed from the riser. My issue would be if you went to a comp and a judge said no. My day would be done or at least low scoring
