  There’s a weird scene where older beings (aliens) abduct children and do “something” to them. The children are left deeply traumatized. Then, years later, as adults, they meet their abductor again. And they almost thank him for it. It’s incredibly unsettling. WTF, Steven?

  Disappointment Day has arrived and when you leave the theatre you will have more questions than answers, and the only disclosure and higher realisation will be the amount of money you lost and time wasted watching a long car chase.

  So, aliens kidnap children, take the shape of something good, manipulate people&apos;s emotions, pose as someone else, and stress compassion as the ultimate virtue, instead of balancing the different virtues (agape, justice,...: see Chesterton on this), and Spielberg wants us to believe that the aliens are Jesus, or gods: he is clearly victim of demonic oppression, if not worse.
