I subscribed to Guitar Player for years. I used to wait expectantly every month to read Tommy’s column. He was funny as hell, always wise, insightful, and told great stories. I sure miss him. Tommy’s appearance on the Gong Show was too funny; Tommy, dressed in a pink tutu, playing a song “I Used To Be Number One “. An autobiographical song about his studio career.

I’m a big fan of the wrecking crew. Iv heard some of Tommy’s talks here and there. He is a riot. Wish I had heard of him earlier. My goal is to get me a wrecking crew guitar strap😊 I’m self taught. 73 yrs old . Tommy is an inspiration.

I love the story of him doing a session and he was behind a half wall for recording and they asked him to play different stringed instruments, he would bend down and pretend to switch instruments and use the same guitar to make it sound like a sitar or one of those Greek stringed instrument and pull it off.

I met Tommy at one of his clinics in 1989 in Philadelphia. A legend yes...but such a down to earth guy in person. Made an impression on me. Thank you for this !
