  Folks, please leave out the comments about modern day political group rivalries. This isn't a video about feminism or race or any of those (mostly engineered) "culture war" issues doing the rounds. This is a video about learned helplessness, which happens right across society and across history. Cheers.

  You also see this with kids and mothers, with kids developing learned helplessness, and mothers  thinking themselves as saviors.

  Great video as usual  I grew up in the town where Cuckoos Nest was filmed.  We would drive past the Hospital almost once a week in the late 90's & early 2000's.  Even as a kid I was impressed w/ how dark the area felt just driving by.  Still was a depressing area in 2023 when I last drove by.

  Brad Douriff was for me the true heart of this movie - and that is saying something. This was one of my father’s favorite movies and one of the few that he let me stay up late and watch together with him. I remember him pointing out certain scenes during the film which he never did with any other film with me. It had obviously blown his mind. My father had a hard life and died young, but was never a victim. He had a wife and 3 kids that loved him and he knew how lucky he was and how unlucky other people he had known were. Life is a strange thing. The book is in my opinion even better than the movie.<br>Thank you for sharing this.<br>Food for thought.

  Incredibly rich movie I&apos;m sure, but McMurphy&apos;s line &quot;You guys are no more crazy than the average person out there&quot; sums up the overall theme. It&apos;s all part of the post modern social inclusion of the marginalized ideology, and movies with predetermined agendas always sabotage its own potential for depth, one way or the other.
