This video explains why the energy transition is way more complicated than just “build more solar panels.”
The part about India having cheap excess power in the afternoon but shortages at night was honestly eye-opening. Most people don’t realize the grid itself is becoming the real battleground now. Brilliant breakdown.

The lack of commercial implementation of coal methane indicates the fundamental issues in our governance. Each govt dept acts on its own and doesnt collaborate with other depts and makes sure pilot projects die a natural death!

If batteries manufacturing is gonna take decades more than projected, like everything in India.

Perhaps they should get some pumped hydro or compressed air going.

Thank you for the informative and lively presentation on electricity generation, solar power and coal in India! I just watched this video along with my late lunch here in New Zealand.

So well organized and smart...I subbed. I want to see India get its grid in control...there are solutions like storing excess power in sand or liquid salts. The West is facing smiliar issues...best for India to replace coal/gas with nuclear as much as possible...though solar is great too...we have so much free desert land to build on.

Everyone compare India with China without even thinking how China works. If China wants military base then there won't be any leader opposing that,no NGOs doing riots. No one can shut down their copper plant. If someone tries, they won't be seen next time

There is a systemic problem of 100% delays and more in infra projects in India. Every such delay means the gap with China grows wider instead of shrinking. Hence every delay must be regarded as a criminal event that hurts national security, and 1) the babus netas and firms responsible for it must be prosecuted vigorously to the max; 2) the process reform needed to reduce delays need to be implemented fast.

Large scale sodium ion batteries - we can bring down the cost in mass production to 10$ per Kwh or even less for Sodium ion mass production.
We dont care about weight and energy density for stationary containerised storage. We need lower cost instead of spending money on trying to increase energy density which will make the batteries more expensive.
Encourage and set up local micro grids which interact with the central grids.
It can be done easily. It just needs a vision and will to execute.

For agricultural use, usually electricity is shared with 8 hour shift and rotated throughout the week. If electricity is surplus can it be used for overall agriculture sector in day time itself. Irrigation systems also require quite a large amount of electricity. TOD discount to industries and homes can also incentivize consumption during day. EVs can also be charged at discount in day will incentivise the consumption during day time. Little lifestyle shift can also smothen out some of it.
