I don't remember how long ago.  But I remember a video around Christmas time where a woman was like "Okay all you husbands out there, I'm gonna tell you how to buy gifts.  Does your wife like reading? Buy her the next book the series she's currently reading.  Don't know the series? Get her a gift card to the book store.  Does she have a favorite tv show or movie?  Get her a little gift related to her fandom..." It was a lift of like 15 different things that were both specific and generic that it could be applied to literally anyone.

This overconsumption trend is making me rethink how I give gifts to my daughter. She's a preteen now so I'm gonna start prioritize whole experiences rather than just presents.

My husband has deep cleaned the entire house for a gift quite a few times and it's the absolute BEST. I've banned him from buying flowers. 🤣

My boyfriend and i went to a burger place, window shopped and visited a café that i like. As a gift he bought us a new video game that we can play together (it takes two) and i made him a crochet plushie and got us a squishmallow mystery box because we both like them. Not that expensive, but thoughts and planning went into it and the time spend together actually strenghtens a relationship so much more than meaningless stuff

for valentine’s day my bf and i are going rock climbing, ordering takeout, and drinking cheap wine. Inexpensive but still so fun!

I've done baskets for my hubby for over 20 years... but it is always the same basket, full of custom gifts for his work, his taste, his clothing, his favorite snacks etc... and I never share them or promote them to other people

This girl I'm dating had crafted me a tiny plushie of my favorite character. I gave her a charm of one of her faves. We sat at her house playing video games and eating snacks and honestly, that was the best valentine's day I could ask for. I wish we could get together in the future, this day really solidified my feelings and I didn't need anything extravagant, just having fun together.
