It’s not paying that bothers me. It’s what they do with my money that brasses me off.

My mum got numerous requests to do her self assessment. The issue was that she was in the early stages of dementia, at least 77 and hadn't worked for a year or so. In any case, she hadn't earned enough most tax years to pay any tax...so here we are in 2026 STILL ARGUING with the tax office about unpaid tax and fines. No point having a supercomputer if the people using it have zero common sense.

So why isn't HMRC interested in £5 million "gifts" to politicians, or at the other extreme, all those "travellers" in their new Mercedes, BMWs Audis etc. along with very expensive caravans and the vans they are towed with? How can a certain political mouthpience get away with avoiding £60,000 in tax because of an "oversight", obviously the only oversight is being caught.

HMRC needs to go after the absolutely huge amounts of tax avoided and indeed evaded, by large corporations, politicians, greedy business owners (Phillip Green to name just one) instead of going after somebody that's hand knitted a jumper as a hobby but then sold it on Etsy for £60, despite is costing more than that in wool alone!

The UK hosts some of the biggest taxhaven in the world, yet NOTHING is done about it. They are used, in part, to avoid paying UK tax, by putting ownwrship of money and assets in offshore territories, linked to the UK!!

We have been reduced to serfdom by a grasping, wasteful and unaccountable state that comes down on us like a ton of bricks while they sail away with their own corruption, errors and deceit.
