  As much as 100% these women are not adding positivity to the subculture, went to a show this weekend and many of us goths and alt folks were out having fun and dancing to good music. So sure this is happening and also, in real life things are still ok in many spaces. There is hope!

  Goth, Heavy Metal, and Horror fandom are all in the same basket. It&apos;s all been turned into consumer products and social media trends. Fashion, popular surface level references, etc. Consumerism LEANS into conformity, while these subcultures are all non-conforming interests when you get past the mainstream surface level of interest.

  The main problem with these e-girls playing into the goth stuff is that it&apos;s done out of inauthenticity and to sell a grossly overexaggerated image of goth/alt culture that is digestible to the masses.<br><br>Goth and alt culture has always been inherently very sexual and has a big sexual part that&apos;s countercultural to &quot;vanilla&quot; sex. The difference comes to these e-girls dressing up to just to sell goth as a purely sexual thing and nothing more than a fetish to consume rather than an appreciation and understanding for the culture and what it is.<br><br>I&apos;m not goth at all, but I have an appreciation for it and can see why so many people in this community are against these &apos;fake&apos; goth women as it feels like they&apos;re making a mockery of the culture (honestly they are) and are only using it to sell something, hence going back to inauthenticity. <br>It&apos;s the same as the older e-girl trend where women who never picked up a controller their entire life - or once hated or probably thought lesser of nerdy/gaming/anime culture suddenly started larping to gain views, followers, money and attention. They most likely don&apos;t care for the hobby at all and only view it as an opportunity. I&apos;m not saying no one can get into new hobbies because I&apos;m friends with multiple women who just got into gaming less than a year ago and are loving it, but it just comes down to some people faking it for fame and money with no appreciation of what they&apos;re pretending to be.<br><br>All in all great vid, ty for sharing this cause I fully agree

  Am I the only one who thinks she googled “sexy goth” and then copied to the nth degree a bunch of pictures of Asia Devinyl? Even down to the outfits. This is where AI sucks even more, because the AI is probably literally stealing images from photographers and models. The capitalism of it all is just so gross.
