I work as a crossing guard...

I have made many crow friends lmfao 😂

they all nest on top of the school I work near, and willow trees down the road theres like at least a dozen of them

I learned they were smart and recognize faces, and work gets INCREDIBLY boring during school time... so I started buying unsalted peanuts and feeding them

now these guys will land all along the fence behind me, and on the hydro poles and just sit there with me all shift, usually they just talk to eachother while I watch them and toss nuts while im not busy

idk if they adopted me or I adopted them... but like... theres been a few times when drivers get annoyed and start honking or yelling at me because im holding up the road so kids will cross, and these guys will just start HOLLERING at the driver, and i always start laughing cuz 9/10x the driver just looks like theyre about to crap their pants and then close their windows back up and shuts up 😂

Befriending the local corvids is one of the best choices you can make, I feed shelled peanuts to a group of jackdaws from my balcony and other than being super fascinating to just watch, they keep the seagulls from nesting in the area and on my roof! Also i get gifts from time to time, colorful hairclips are their favourites! Luv those rascals

11:10 this is why a group of crows is called a murder, they tend to hang out around dead bodies doing investigations

Wolves being freinds with crows is literally just air support

I was actually curious about why the crows don't just smell the food during the analogical thinking test, so I looked it up. It turns out that crows have a very weak sense of smell, so they don't even bother trying to use their nose most of the time. That's like choosing to never use your eyes simply because you have poor vision. Crazy.

An elder crow watching the cat fight:
"Some crows aren't looking for any thing logical. Some corvids can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some crows just want to watch the world burn."

As a crow friend myself I'm certainly aware of the two faces crows can wear. Whenever they see me walking by they get down from their perch to greet me, walk with me and join me riding on my bike. Some of the family even bring me stones or coins as gifts sometimes. But they're very protective of their friends. Eg. whenever a dog they don't know gets anywhere near me they immediately attack it. Same with any non-corvid bird that so much as thinks about approaching my balcony. They even attack the occasional goshawk if one comes too close to me and I've even seen them kill one of them before. And all that because I helped a crow couple when their nest had fallen from a tree near where I lived roughly 20y ago.

I love corvids, genuinely my favorite type of bird.

Where I grew up, we didn't have crows, we had grackles. Entirely different family, but similar behavior. I'd often see them chase all the other birds away from the feeder just to strut around not eating anything.

28:44 The crows have wolf hit squads now?? That's nutty.
