Hey everyone! I had to make a small edit to this, so this is the updated version. Thanks for watching!

He let the chickens loose because he thought they deserved better… only for his direct actions to cause their immediate death because the dog killed them. What a great summary of his journey.

He hated the idea of having a boring job, but never hesitated to use the resources of the people who worked one, and even overstay his welcome. This doesn’t seem right with me.

This man really freeloaded across multiple contienents, taking advantage of so many peoples' kindness, instead of just going to therapy for his daddy issues.

It’s easy to reject materialism and comfort when you grow up having everything. Its easy to be idealistic if you’re only taking and never giving. The things that he expected out of people would embarrass most of us.

I'm from the Amazon, but a pattern I noticed is how skewed some people's perception of "respecting the land" and "becoming one with nature/the animals" is. If anything, disregarding the advice of locals/indigenous people of the land and just diving head in thoughtlessly is the epitome of disrespect.

You don't become one with nature by ignoring every single sign nature and the people that live in it and expecting everything to go your way through sheer willpower.

Love how he thought of locals as "soft" considering he would have been a goner multiple times over by sheltering him and giving him supplies. He wasn't truly living off the land with his skills. Seems he somewhat had a suicidal mentality might have been due to a TBI. He definitely didn't respect the land, its harshness and dangers.

Having lived in Fairbanks and Anchorage myself, I find François to be dangerously self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing, self-important, and someone who treated others as if they were only there to service him and his “superior” values.
It makes me angry to hear about someone treating people doing subsistence living in rural communities like this. It would be hard to find folks who are more generous despite having so little themselves. Just not ok.

In the constant slog of fake content; it’s very refreshing to see real narration over real stock footage about real stuff that happened. Thank you for not using AI.

...Dad, why do you own so many material things, why do you live in a house at all...yet throughout Francois' adventures, he was always wanting other people's material things, homes to warm up in, something to eat and a place to sleep comfortably. He could have had a wonderfully adventurous life had he earned the things he needed to do so safely. His last journal entry was telling, he was a fool and he knew it.

It wasn’t the world he was trying to escape, it was responsibility

“He just lived life exactly how he wanted to.”

Yeah, I agree. He wanted to live carelessly.
