The most impressive part isn’t that they made the tower strong enough to resist the wind — it’s that they designed the entire building around controlling movement. Anchors stop uplift, outriggers make the structure act wider than it really is, open floors let wind pass through, and the damper absorbs the motion that still gets through. At that slenderness, the real engineering challenge isn’t keeping the building perfectly still. It’s making sure it moves in a controlled way.

@<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH7Xf8ebh_0&t=730">12:10</a> PVC pipe says Schedule 40. No wonder it cracked. They should have used at least Schedule 80: 4-inch PVC = 320 PSI, 6-inch PVC = 280 PSI.

Incredible breakdown! Finding a way to anchor a 1,428 ft tower to bedrock on a tiny 57 ft lot is pure engineering genius. The real wild card now is whether the long-term upkeep on those hyper-custom facade elements and damping systems will stay cost-effective over time. Physics was defeated today, but maintenance always wins in the end!

I work nearby there and I do not want to be getting my lunch when the thing falls down. As it is, it’s already blocked the site lines from West to east at street level. Downtown is dark for a reason.
