  As a 15, 16 and 17 yr old, my best friend and her mother had <br>become LDS. I went to all the church social activities with her. Dances, hay rides, all kinds of fun activities. I was Episcopalian. I told my parents about the Mormons and the discussions. They said go ahead but use your comnon sense. I read the Bolk of Mormon. It reminded me of all sci fi books like Asimov and other. I has read CS Lewis. I rejected baptism and did not join but continued for the next two years to go to church, joined MIA Maids, had many great experiences and friendships. I thought at my young age, not knowing I could have &nbsp;lived on my very own planet sealed to my husband and &nbsp;on and own.<br>I never succumbed. I was an impressionable teenager! I am so grateful something in me said no.

  I used to be Mormon. I walked away from the church at 16 when my MIA teacher told me I had to break up with my boyfriend because he was Catholic. She said I wouldn’t go to heaven if I didn’t. That was 50 years ago. I’ve been married to my then boyfriend for 46.5 years now, and we’ve been together for 51.5 years. I became Catholic at 18, and haven’t looked back. I now watch Mormon Stories with John Delin to keep up with the craziness of that cult.

  The only members leaving that they count are those that go through the difficult process of removing your name from the “rolls”. I know for a fact that many have left without doing that.

  My Dad is 85 and paying a lot of tithing because he has been told that it will get him into the celestial kingdom (the highest kingdom according to LDS folks). He asks everyone he meets if they are paying a full tithe. I left the LDS church at 18, my other 8 siblings are still members, as well as most of their children. I appreciate this conversation. My mom and dad are anti-Trump, but a few of my siblings are MAGA.

  The Church sent 8 sets of bright shiny faced missionaries to my door over 2 years pleading with me to join and get baptized. Then they tried to make it sound, during &quot; the discussions&quot; like joining the Church was all My &apos;idea&apos;

  If only we had evidence and dirt on Oaks &amp; others, maybe people might wake up?! Maddening I was brainwashed my whole life! The corruption is slapping us in the face and people refuse to see it <br>Gordon Bowen is disgusting and still employed with the church

  I left the LDS church over 20 years ago because it was bad for my mental health and is a business disguised as a religion. I didn’t know about the nasty church history until I left.

  I think Ian joined LDS church at a similar time to me. I was almost 16. Little did I know what I was getting into. I stayed in for about 40 years until I studied my way out

  Dr. Steven Hassan, your podcast which I see on YouTube is one of the best. Luckily I have always been able to avoid the group dynamic of joining cults to feel belonging. Ian Wilks is a guy who one would not expect to get sucked in. I always distrusted the Mormon church here in America but that said , I distrusted all churches or spiritual groups to begin with. I’m 71 now but was a cynical child early on and believe this cynicism gave me the ability of critical thinking. There are a few people endeavoring in America today to change things for the better. I think of you, Jamie Raskin, Elizabeth Warren, Dr. Bandy Lee and more as truly the good guys. Thank you for keeping on diligently.🇺🇸💙🍀
