i think the most common strength requirement for a reverse these days is 16-18, not 18+

I was taught that a reverse bid only promises 16hcp.

Lead the J spades when the Q is taken the ten is an entry back to hand to cash the heart

Seeing how the heart suit has played (4 led by W, 2 & 3 played by E) we can definitely know that W started with 4 hearts. So after trick 5 we could play A and then 7 H, which we know will throw W in, which is the best we can hope for.

After the Qspades win on your right, odds on that a heart comes back, not a club. The A diamonds is left, the left hand needs to find a spade return to force you to plays clubs off dummy to beat you.

Playing a weak no trump 12-14, reverse shows 15-17 so rebid of 2H possible. North rebids 2S, promises 10+.  With only 7 card fit would we still finish in 3NT?

If the A diamonds is on your right, a third heart will likely come back if that hand has one.

Lead the diamond. Sets up diamond, A hearts, AK spades, K clubs if W leads club. If W leads spade, you’re done.

  • @emmanuelvacakis4463 · 3 months ago

It makes the defense much harder. Right hand must go up with the Jack of clubs to beat you.

What about lying about shape when you have 4H instead of 5 and you have AK?

  • @emmanuelvacakis4463 · 3 months ago

I would have won the Q hearts and immediately lead a low spade off dummy.. if the Q spades shows up, you have 4 spades and 3 hearts immediately. You’ll be home free if the Q spades is on your right and a diamond comes back if a club comes back, you might get 2 clubs set up in dummy. If a heart comes back. Win it and play the K of diamonds. If the A diamonds is on your left, you make it because you still have a high heart, 2 good diamonds and if a club comes back, the K sets up.

Open 1nt. Can’t open 1 diamond and reverse to 2 hearts over partners 1 spade or 1 NT response. All can’t raise to 2 NT. You are not strong enough for either option. So open 1 NT.
