How FNAF Portrays Animatronic Sound

fun fact about CEC, the reason why the showtape audios are so loud is because they are very loud, the showtape audio and the cosmetics muffle the sound, but since they run on pneumatics they can get loud, for example: if you were to listen to a rock-afire animatronic without showtape audio it sounds very loud due to the combination of high pressure going through 40 year old cylinders, valve pop from the valve bank, and general exhaust from the compressed air, so CEC relies on the loud speakers and background sound for their animatronics to not sound like a helicopter

The reason you don't see Chuck E. Cheese's animatronics moving around during the day is because it's no longer allowed. Not since the "Bite of '87". Yeah, it's amazing how the human body can survive without the frontal lobe.

Fnaf 6 does have salvage section sounds though? Scraptrap has heart beats, lefty has whirring and molten freddy has clicking

15:05 I can't help but imagine Scott Cawthon with a spoon and bowl, hitting them against each other to make this sound for his game.

Real life animatronics make very little sound because they run on pneumatics, which are low friction and don't generate much vibrations. The FNAF designs however, use an endoskeleton which seems to be motor controlled. The closest real life analog would actually be humanoid robots, like atlas from BD. If you haven't heard them before you should definitely check out some of the movement demos BD has put on youtube. They would make amazing audio for a FNAF game.

As much as I've been enjoying this video, limiting yourself to just the sounds the bodies make can be a bit limiting when analyzing the sounds animatronics make in-game. I think not discussing Mangle's radio or the laugh sounds does limit your discussion of how different elements of the animatronics' sounds impact how we view them in-game, as threats, and as characters, especially when the juxtaposition of robotic and recognizably distorted human-like noises is part of why the horror works so well.

Good video though, I enjoyed it.

7:22 ok so i know it makes more sense for the withereds to walk slower, but i genuinely think it's scarier to imagine them hauling ass to kill you, like, this giant death machine shuffle-jogging down the hall towards you, it fits fnaf2 pretty well i think

18:27 Springlocks do exist IRL, actually! They just look very different in real life (and would have to be applied in very negligent ways to create the sort of death traps that FNAF depicts)

1:25 irl animatronics are basically moving balloon control by he series of valves and pumps witch themself are control by he computer, they are only loud when they malfunction however even those type of incident are very rare, i heard it happened once they can hurt human ear due to he excess amount pressure all leaking at once

The sounds ennard makes when they move has always made me, for some weird reason, think of him going around on a unicycle. I have absolutely no idea why, but that spaghetti clown is riding around on a unicycle in my head.

Something interesting that not many people know is that there's a sound called "guts" in sister location which seems to be flesh sloshing around in circus baby's body so since her ever so slightly moving would cause the sloshing would this count as a movement noise?
