Bringing up her father in this formal setting in front of the admiral might be my favorite strategic move of Picard in the entire run of TNG. His objective wasn’t just to exonerate himself and his crew. His main objective was for her never to be able to do this to anyone ever again — He baited her into exposing herself. He knew how she would react. And boy did she take the bait.

The Admiral standing up and walking out is one of my favorite moments in Star Trek

Despite our best efforts, it seems that 'Karens' exist in the future. It is truly a sad revelation.

If ever we wanted Worf to Bakkleth a guy in half, it was in this scene.

Imagine throwing verbal haymaker after verbal haymaker at Picard for him to bloody your lip with a rabbit punch and you start bawling.

Jean Simmons (Sati) and Jonathan Frakes costarred in the 80s miniseries "North and South", which starred Patrick Swayze as South Carolinian plantation heir Orry Main. Simmons was his mother, while Frakes was the brother of Orry's friend, George Hazard, son of a Pennsylvanian industrialist. George's sister incidentally was played by Kirstie Alley from Star Trek II.

In fact a lot of the cast from that series wound up on Star Trek at some point. Orry's father played Riker's dad on TNG.

These scenes are so much more intense than the pewpew from current NuTrek. And we will never get that back. That's something we all won't be recovering from.

With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged.

Words now more relevant than eever.
