  I watch ton of these bush craft videos and a couple of things stick in my mind.  I think they are over cautious with the camp fires, that they place them too far from the shelter,  I know, I know it's for safety, that's why I say "over cautious". The other thing is they don't prepare the building site, they just start swinging the axe or hatchet.  Thirdly they don't clear the branches from the main tree until they've cut it down.  Most guy can't swing an axe both left and right handed.  They also don't leave the logs clean, mostly stubs 2"/3" long.  I think I might have a neatness complex but, maybe I'm just a tad fussy.  My favorite guy always looks cold when he hit the sack?  Final comment, aren't the two most overused words "blizzard" and "brutal" Stranded and alone get honorable mention.

  I'm in Arkansas.. -30C is rare if even possible.. wait.. checked.. it has happened.. Arkansas' state record low is -29°F (-34°C).Not far from where I live too.. I've seen -16F -26C once and that was insane enough.. I managed to make a path in the snow to the backyard shed and that was it for me going outside aside from the path we had to make to get to family's house across the street.. we had two feet of snow in that event.. very rare.. usually we get a little snow but sometimes we get a lot..
