Quick edit: emacs lisp isn’t “proprietary”. It’s “domain specific”. The point was you had to learn a new language to customize it but I messed up the terminology.<br>—-<br><br>We spent a lot of time making this video but it was so worth it! In the first half I was like "This sounds an awful lot like that blight that started infecting desktop apps in 2015." And then you said it became Electron and I was like oh ok that makes sense 🤣

It's seems almost symbolic to me. Atom is a fundamental part of new code editors, just like a physical atom :)
